Independence

The fireworks went off, the grills were used and we celebrated our independence again. Another 4th of July has come and moved into the history books. But our patriotism should continue to stand and stand strong.

This land of the United States now seems weaker and more vulnerable than it has in a long time. Our leaders do not seem to seek the guidance of God or God’s people. There is a very real breakdown in the very fiber of who we say we are as a “God fearing nation”.

But should we be surprised? No! People of all cultures and backgrounds – both presently living and historically have one major problem, they are not satisfied!

Adam and Eve wanted more knowledge, Cain wanted more recognition and the list goes on and on.

Paul, however, came to a point where he learned – enough is enough! He came to the point of being content, at peace and satisfied. Philippians 4:12, “…I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation…” The secret that Paul learned was that His God would not only love him but according to Philippians 4:19, his needs would be met. Therefore, he understood that contentment did not depend on the circumstances surrounding him. Regardless, what Paul’s circumstances were – God would supply his needs and he would ultimately be ok!

We as citizens of this land should be patriotic and stand for what is right and holy. We should pray that our God would lift up some new strong leadership that would seek HIS face and lead with Godly wisdom. But we ourselves should grow in learning that each of us, as Paul should be content, trusting in HIM!
